This guide will help you complete the Manor map in the Singleplayer mode on Nightmare.
I. General Tips – If this is your first nightmare run
1. If you have troubles seeing in the dark. Go to Windows Search and type ‘Calibrate display color,’ then click ‘Next’ 3 times and raise the bar to the very top.
2. If you don’t know this already, you only get 2 batteries on the map (you can charge your flashlight and another battery will spawn which makes it 3 in hands) – [same as for the previous maps]. Therefore, you need to memorize battery spawn locations, so that you don’t spend too much time looking for them.
Side notes:
- One battery is enough to burn one crow and stun April.
- Don’t recharge the battery if you still have some charges left. First spend the remaining charge then quickly reload.
II. Preparation
In my opinion the best perks for this map are:
Fast Worker to quickly bury graves (especially last 4):
Fully Charged for battery conservation and survivability:
My strategy revolves around the statue section (the one with grave ‘4’). We’re going to store 4 heads there for the graves that are located in close proximity (marked in blue):
I chose this side of the manor since, from my experience, there is a smaller chance for crows to spawn close to this section compared to the other side (the shed one).
Preparation basics:
1. Find and place bottles of olive oil by the cleansing basin.
2. Place pieces of cake wherever you can access them quickly during the ritual. I like to place them in the hall/living room:
3. Note down the position of each guest’s grave.
4. There can only be 5 heads spawned on the map in total (head-worms and cleansed heads combined). Once you get the heads that fit the bodies in the graves 1-4, run towards the statue section and put them there, in the furthest corner (until you touch the invisible wall) if you want to be on the safe side:
In my runs I like putting them closer to the gate because I’ve noticed that chances of birds stealing the heads from the statue section are pretty slim regardless plus it gives you a few extra seconds during the endgame:
5. Batteries are always paramount on Nightmare. Before starting burying bodies make sure you’ve charged your flashlight and found 2 extra batteries. With the Fully Charged perk, you only need one battery (I call it “battle battery”) per burial sequence. I highly recommend placing another battery (“endgame battery”) near the fountain as a safety measure and use it only in critical situations:
After you use a battle battery, you need to find the replacement ASAP. Ideally, you shouldn’t touch the endgame battery before the actual endgame 😉
Here’s the map with battery spawns. You need to memorize all of them to successfully finish the map.
6. Makes sure you can consistently execute jumps from the 2nd floor without getting stuck:
Staircase jump:
Balcony jump:
You will use them pretty often during your runs and they even might save your skin every once in a while.
III. Burying bodies
After (or if) you’ve found and placed the endgame heads at the statue section, you can start having fun.
Make sure that you have a spare battery close by once you begin the ritual. Also, remember to look for the battle battery’s replacement right after you’ve used it.
Begin with the backyard (the section where the shed is located) and place the heads at the respective graves.
TIPS:
- You can use the shed as a temporary place for storing heads, so that crows don’t steal them. Just don’t forget to close doors.
- Don’t burn crows unless it’s absolutely necessary e.g. to retrieve a head, clear the way or stay alive. They can only hit you twice before you get distance from them, which is not that big of a deal:
The number of bodies you can bury at the same time will depend on the number of heads that you’ve already found for the endgame. For example, you’ve found 2 heads for the endgame and placed them at the statue section. It means that you will only be able to bury 3 bodies at the same time before looking for heads again. All in all, proceed with the ritual following these steps:
1) If you used a battle battery, find the replacement;
2) Find and cleanse heads (don’t forget to refill the basin after each cleansing);
3) If you find endgame heads, place them at the statue section;
4) Rinse-repeat until you’ve buried 5 bodies;
5) Before you bury the 6th body, make sure you have battle battery close by;
6) Bury the 6th body;
7) Right after you’ve buried the 6th body bring the shovel to grave ‘1’ (look at the map from the Preparation section);
8) Pacify April.
I recommend you bring the shovel to grave ‘1’ before pacifying April because after you bury the 6th body, there’s very little time to prepare for the endgame before she starts raging again:
TIPS:
- Develop a habit of closing the front/entrance door, so that crows don’t wander outside and bother your neatly placed heads.
- Use entrances to the house as fighting grounds, so that you can stun April quickly.
- Remember to efficiently use batteries with the Fully Charged perk to both stun April and burn any nearby crows:
IV. Endgame: last 4 bodies
After you’ve buried 6th body and pacified April, you need to make sure you have these points in order:
1) The front door is closed. Otherwise, crows will undoubtedly ruin the run.
2) You have at least 1 charge. It is needed in case you get unlucky and crows spawn at this section of the map. In such case, you need to burn them immediately.
3) The shovel is by the grave ‘1’.
Now, you need to quickly run to the statue section, grab the heads for the graves ‘2’ and ‘3’, and place them by their respective graves.
After that, you run for the head which fits the body in grave ‘1’ and start burying bodies in the order from 1 to 4:
If you get crows, burn them straight away and proceed with the ritual.
With the help of Holy Father, you will bury them all before April even opens the front door.
Afterword
This map is much easier than the Slaughterhouse, but it’s still great fun 😀
Good luck, fellow cultists!
