Finding specific items in Road to Vostok can be a real challenge, especially in the more dangerous zones. If you’re trying to unlock Doc’s school room shelter, you’ll need to locate three heavy Oil Samples. This guide will walk you through exactly where to find them and how to survive the trip.
Based on player experience, all three Oil Samples can be collected in a single raid. They are located on the Terminal map, which is part of the Vostok Permadeath location. The key area to search is the middle section of the large pipe location on this map. Be thorough when checking around there.

Be warned: this area is heavily patrolled. Reports indicate around ten soldier NPCs in the vicinity, so moving quietly and using cover is essential. The samples themselves are very heavy, weighing 10 kilograms each, so managing your inventory before the return trip is crucial.

To reach the Terminal map, you must follow a specific route. Start at the Outpost. From there, travel to the Minefield, then proceed to the Apartments, and finally enter the Terminal. The path is not straightforward. In the Minefield, watch the ground carefully for buried mines and destroy them safely if you can. However, while the mines are a threat, the primary danger throughout this journey, especially on the return trip, is the large number of armed guards.
