Drakensang: Magic Items Guide 2021

A guide detailing the effects of the various magic items present in the game and listing all the steps necessary to obtain them.

Introduction

Hello adventurers and welcome to this humble guide! Drakensang is a classic fantasy RPG and as such expect there will be items enchanted with powerful magic scattered around the world. In the following paragraphs I will try to explain the importance of certain magic items within the game and list all the necessary steps you will have to make in order to get them. In addition for each item I will specify the classes/party roles that benefit the most from them. In this guide I will not record the exact numerical and technical bonuses of such items but rather give the reader a generic idea of what their powers are. I will also not tell you how to get the Armor of Fire as you will collect its pieces by simply following the main questline.

Disclaimer: Although I finished the game several times clearing the vast majority of quests available, it’s still very possible that I missed some and with that the magic items potentially tied to them. Also there may be multiple ways you can obtain the same item and I may not know them all. The game is vast and there might be secrets I have yet to uncover but this guide should be enough to equip all members of your party with enchanted artifacts.
One final note: as much as I will try to keep things as vague as possible, this guide will inevitably contain some kind of spoilers for the game!

But without further ado let’s get you some magic items, shall we?

Magic Items Types

In Drakensang there are different types of magic items: weapons, armors, rings and amulets, miscellaneous. While enchanted weapons and armors are pretty rare, magic rings and amulets are more common and some can be easily bought from merchants. Miscellaneous magic items are more situational as they usually boost specific talents.

Rings

Ring of Life:
Best suitable for: Anyone
Description: The Ring of Life significantly boosts your HP and lets you spare exp that would be otherwise spent in raising your Vitality.
How to get:
• One can be bought from Magister Adran Gorbas in Tallon.
• Clear the quest “The Plague of Rats”. You will find a Ring of Life on the mother of all rats. (Sorry if I’m not being too specific here but you gotta experience this one for yourself. Prepare for rats).
• Follow the main questline until you have to prove Salina’s innocence in Murolosh. Prepare well and collect plenty of clues and witnesses. If you succeed, Salina will thank you by giving you the Ring.
• One can be pick pocketed from Mountain King Arombolosh in Murolosh.
• One can be found in a chest near the peak of Drakensang Mountain.

• Follow the main questline until you gain access to Behind the Fire Falls. On your way up the stairs leading to the Adamantine Heart you will have to use grolm switches to summon magical platforms. There are five switches (four that summon the platforms and one that looks useless) and each of them has four rotating tiles. You must pick the right tile without triggering any traps. Looking at the tiles from top to bottom the right combination is: first switch fourth tile, second switch third tile, third switch (the useless one) first tile, fourth switch fourth tile, fifth switch second tile. After defeating the Grolm King and going down the stairs, if you have a high enough Dwarfnose talent, you can interact with a stone socket. Behind it you will find a treasure containing the Ring.
