As the latest “The First Ascent” update in Everwind is released, the Steamer Colossus is one of the most exciting new mechanical bosses you can face. But finding it isn’t straightforward—there are specific steps you need to follow, and a few nasty surprises waiting inside. Let me walk you through exactly how to locate, activate, and survive this encounter.
Step 1: Start a New World or Transfer Your Character
The Steamer Colossus will not appear in your old world. You have two options:
- Create a brand new game world – This is the simplest method.
- Use the official transfer system – You can move your character and ship into an updated world running “The First Ascent” version.
Step 2: Head to the Steamer Islands Biome 
The boss is found in the Steamer Islands biome. You’ll need to fly your ship to an altitude of around 1700 blocks. Most players report that the islands tend to generate toward the northwest direction, so start your search there.
Step 3: Spot the Tower from a Distance
What you’re looking for is a huge abandoned metal tower—it looks exactly like the one on the guide cover. The key visual cue is multiple signal beacons at the top. These make it easy to spot from far away. The entire structure sits out in the open on the island’s surface.
Step 4: Enter Through the Hatch
Once you reach the tower, the Steamer Colossus is located in the central room. To get inside, you need to jump down through an open hatch on the top. Be prepared—this is a one-way trip.
Step 5: Activate the Boss
After dropping in, you’ll find yourself in a fully enclosed room with no obvious exits. The Colossus starts out static and inactive. The moment you approach it, the boss will “wake up” and rise to begin the fight.

- You cannot escape – The room is completely sealed. There’s no flying or running out, so you must defeat the boss to leave.
