Harvest Moon Light of Hope: All Mutations & Seeds Guide

Unlock all crop mutations and their seeds.

Introduction

This guide contains all mutations for crops.
Some crops require blend to mutate if so it is mentioned in the Blend column.
The blend should be applied at least once in the lifetime of the plant, if the crop regrows, you don’t need to reapply the blend. If you apply the blend more than once you don’t get any extra benefit.
There is no distinction between Blend and Super blend in terms of mutation. Super blend just adds additional quality points, but does not increase mutation chance plants. The additional quality points of the super-blend are of no use because crops will max out at poor quality or average quality and can’t be improved further due to them being grown out of their primary season.

Because most mutations happen out of the prime season of the plant, the quality of the plant will deteriorate every day. You need to fertilize (with regular fertilizer) the plant at minimum every other day to maintain the plant quality in good standing, otherwise you risk the plant withering and not mutating.

I also recommend to fertilize the plant a day before it becomes harvest-able. Plants need to be close to the maximum quality for that season to mutate.

I have noted the mutations that you should prioritize first with an exclamation mark. The goal is to manage to unlock the seeds for that mutation because you will need those seeds for further mutations. To unlock a mutation’s seeds you need to ship some amount of crop or great crop as listed in the table.

The days column shows the number of days the crop requires to become harvest-able.
The Probability column shows the percentage a crop will mutate given that it meets the quality criteria, blend criteria, and area criteria.

** For snowman, plant the seeds in a check-board pattern because a snowman doesn’t companion well with other snowmen

Fruit Trees

For fruit trees to grow and bear fruit, the tree should not touch another tree in the 8 cells around it.

One trick to ensure that plants will not grow around a tree is to plant grass around the tree and let the grass wither. That way you won’t need to concern yourself with checking around the tree if any other tree sprouted.

Companion Crops

Each crop belongs to one of 15 categories, and each crop has a particular category of plants as companion. Planting a companion crop above, below, left or right of the crop will have some minor effect on the crop’s maximum quality (for out of season crops) and will also have some minor effect on the crop’s response to the weather.

I would not recommend that anyone bother with analyzing companion crops because their effect is negligible and weather dependent.
