Guide’s Introduction
Note that, given the random nature of the cards drawn in certain levels, you may need to adapt certain solutions to take advantage of the cards you draw. The more advanced the levels, the more this is true.
For the more complex levels, I recommend that you first read the entire solution to find out which cards to ideally keep for key steps.
Also, You can make things easier for yourself by doing one run per challenge (two runs for one level) if you find it too hard to unlock both challenges at the same time. However, in this guide, I’ll try to complete all the challenges in one run to show you an ideal path !
I hope this guide will help you complete certain Challenges or Levels that are difficult for you.

Game Mechanics : Introduction, Buildings & Ressources
The basic premise of Station to Station is very simple: in order to bring colour and life back to a voxel landscape on a square or rectangular map, you’ll need to connect resources to buildings, by creating stations and linking them to create the railways that will supply them. Most levels add two challenges to this premise : a fund challenge and a star challenge.
Each level starts with a few buildings. When you’ve earned enough money (the amount depends on each level), you unlock the next buildings or cards that give access to financial bonuses.
The buildings here are classified by category. These categories match those in Custom mode. In each category, the buildings are ranked in order from the first to produce a resource to the one that offers the final product once all the buildings have been linked. The images show unconnected buildings, without colours. I’ll leave you with the pleasure of seeing them come to life in game !
Cities are a little different from other buildings : their needs vary according to the type of industry in place on each map. They may need milk, cheese, furniture, tools or water…
But towns also have their own type of resource: passengers. Cities need to be connected to other cities to exchange passengers, and this can be done several times with the same departure city as long as the destination city is different. They can also be connected with Freight Trains. Towns, however, don’t have needs but produce Passengers.
If there are universities on the map, the cities can also send them special passengers, the students. If there are piers on the map, the cities can also send them special passengers, the tourists.
Game Mechanics : Stations, Train types & Bridges
This section contains a detailed list of the different types of stations, railroad and bridges in the game, as well as explanations of how they interact.
Note that trains run in both directions, so you don’t need to link stations twice.
Simple stations have four hubs from which railways can start. They cost 50$.
Passenger Terminal Stations have four hubs from which trains can start, but they all leave from the same side of the station. They allow you to link cities indirectly : the four cities linked to the Passenger Terminal Stations are also linked to each other, with no other connection necessary. They are free : you need a special card to use them.
In this section, we’ll be talking about simple train types. The longer they are, the more they cost. To find out more about special trains unlocked by cards, see the next section.
They enable the transit of non-human resources : water, wood, iron, etc. Their rails are brown.
They enable the transit of human resources : passengers, tourists or students. Their rails are white.
They enable the transit of human and non-human resources at the same time, using only one railroad. Their rails are brown and white.
Bridges are expensive but allow you to cross over other railroads or from one cliff to another. It is sometimes impossible to use them on cliffs that are too steep. They cost around $50 per cliff level, but this varies depending on the exact positioning of the rails.
Water bridges can be used to cross bodies of water, but they have a maximum size and must be positioned carefully.
I recommend that you buy the DLC art-book if you want more information about the designs and inspirations of Galaxy Grove Games for this great game. It’s very well done and particularly interesting !
Game Mechanics : Cards
This section contains a detailed list of the different bonus cards, as well as explanations of how they interact with the game.
Several cards can be used to set up the same railroad, but no two cards can be identical.
Some card draws are random ; others are scripted. It all depends on the level, and sometimes even within a level both cases can occur.
Green cards can be used to build bonus structures.
Construction sites look like this. First, click on the card, then on the empty construction site. A list of buildings will appear, as well as the number of the you will have to build to complete the level.
Blue cards can be used to build special types of train.
Yellow cards can be used to obtain discounts or free construction of bridges, railroads or crossings.
Greendale – Level 1
This very first level is a tutorial : the first steps are to learn how to use the camera, keyboard and the basic elements of the game. The tutorial is very precise and guided, so I won’t go into a full description.
Greendale – Level 2
During this level, the ideal solution is to lengthen the tracks slightly by accentuating the turns and lengthening the railroads, to be sure of reaching the Star Challenge.
- First, connect the Bakery to the Mill
- Then, connect the Mill to the Wheat Farm to win a stack bonus
- Connect the Bakery to the Fishing Dock
- Connect the Fishing Dock to the City
- Connect the City to the Cheesery
- Connect the Cheesery to the Dairy Farm
- Connect the new Wheat Farm to the Bakery
- Connect the Mill to the City
- Connect the Bakery to the Mill

Greendale – Level 3
During this level, the ideal is to shorten the rails as much as possible at each connection, to make sure you reach the Star Challenge. Giving the stations the right orientation when they are installed, and keeping them as far away from their building as possible while keeping them connected, can also help.
- Connect the Wheat Farm and the Mill

You’ll need to be very precise to succeed in the Star Challenge and make the cheapest railroads possible, placing the rails and stations as accurately as possible. Note that you can also make things easier for yourself by dedicating a run to each challenge. That is not what I have chosen to do.

The Unlock Buildings Button is the one you click on to unlock new buildings when you have earned enough money :
To unlock the Star Challenge on this level, you will need to connect a building that’s still under construction so that when it’s unlocked, it can instantly supply another building with resources. This solution is not universal and depends on which cards you get. Remember to use your many cards during this level !
- Create a Cheesery above the Wheat Farm and a Bakery on its left
- Connect the two Cities with a Freight Train
- Connect the City on the right to the Cheesery

I put two stations on the top City, there’s surely another way of doing it, but it also works to unlock the two Challenges ! This solution is not universal and depends on which cards you get. Remember to use your many cards during this level !

- Build a Passenger Terminal Station (PTS) next to the top City, like this :
- Connect the two other Cities to the PTS with a Passenger Train
- Connect the new City to the PTS with a Passenger Train
- Build a new PTS next to the City at the center, like this :
- Connect this PTS to the first PTS
- Connect the two last Cities to the new PTS (this will unlock the Star Challenge !)
- Connect the Water Pump on the left to the nearest City
- On the right side of the map, connect all the Water Pumps together

This level is fairly easy, with all the buildings and maps available and in place from the start.
- Connect the two upper Cities with a Passenger Train, this specific way (this will be important for later connections) :
- Connect them again, but with a Freight Train
- Connect the three Water Pumps together
- Connect the two Cities on the left with a Passenger Train
- Connect the City on the right to the lower City with a Freight Train
- Connect the Water Pump at the center of the map to the top right City (or any other Water Pump to any other City, depending on what you did before and the cards you have left)
Golden Dunes – Level 4
The success of the Challenges at this level will largely depend on your use of the cards. I’ll be using more screenshots to guide you.This solution is not universal and depends on which cards you get.
I will abbreviate Passenger Terminal Station to PTS for this solution.
- Build a Passenger Terminal Station (PTS) next to the lower City, like this :
- Connect the Upper City to the PTS’ 4th hub (preparing for the Star Challenge ; use an Express Train Card if you can)
- Connect the City on the middle of the map to the PTS’ 2nd hub
- Build a simple station on the left of the PTS
- Connect that new station to the lower Fishing Dock
- Connect the two Fishing Docks
- On the left side of the map, connect the two Water Pumps (one station only) to the University
- Connect the University to the Logging Camp
- Connect the Logging Camp to the Paper Mill
- On the river’s left side, connect the Paper Mill to the two Water Pumps (one station only) on the river’s right side ; do it this way :
- Connect the Paper Mill to the Fishing Dock
- Connect the top City to the middle City with a Freight Train
- On the upper left corner of the map, connect the City to the PTS’ 3rd hub, as close as possible to other railroads, especially the Water Bridge and the 1st railroad we put (this will unlock the Star Challenge !) ; use a Free Parallel Tracks Card, a Railroad Crossing Card and an Express Train if you can ; it should look like this :
- Connect the same upper City to the nearest Fishing Dock
- Connect the Fishing Dock to the two Water Pumps (use a Free Parallel Tracks Card and put the railroad as near as the Water Bridge as possible) ; this should look like this :
- Connect the lower Fishing Dock to the lower Water Pump or City
- Connect the lower Water Pump to the Fishing Dock above
- Connect the middle City to the middle Fishing Dock
- Connect the University to the PTS (use a Free Parallel Tracks Card and a Railroad Crossing Card if you can) ; this should look like this :
Golden Dunes – Level 5
This level is particularly complex in terms of completing the two Challenges in one run, so I’ll be using lots of screenshots to guide you through. This solution is not universal and depends on which cards you get. You can restart the level until you have the right starting cards to increase your chances of success. Ideally, you’ll have at least a Luxury Train Card, an Express Train Card and a Free Parallel Tracks Card.
I will abbreviate Passenger Terminal Station to PTS for this solution.
- Build a Passenger Terminal Station (PTS) next to the top City, like this :
- Connect the 3rd PTS hub to the middle City (see next screenshot)
- Connect the 2nd PTS hub to the last City (use a Free Parallel Tracks card and an Express Train card if you can) ; this should look like this :
- Connect the 4th PTS hub to the City on the upper right corner of the map
- Build a PTS on the City just to the left of the other PTS City, just like this :
- Connect the City on the left to that new PTS’ 1st hub
- Connect that new PTS’ 3rd hub to the first PTS (use a Luxury Passenger Train Card, and a Free Parallel Tracks Card if you can) ; your map should now look like this :
- Build a new PTS on the City that is on the middle of the map, like this :
- Connect that new PTS to the three last unconnected Cities ; use your cards as best as possible but keep a Luxury Train Card for the next (and last) connection ; this should look like this :
- Finally, connect the two PTS together ; this should unlock an oddly long Stack Bonus and unlock the two Challenges ! This should look like this :
Golden Dunes – Level 6
This solution is not universal and depends on which cards you get. Remember to use your many cards during this level !
I will abbreviate Passenger Terminal Station to PTS for this solution.
- Connect the Iron Mine to the Coal Mine
- Connect the Coal Mine to the Steelworks (this will unlock new buildings)
- Connect the two Logging Camps (two stations) to the Iron Mine
- Connect the Iron Mine to the Pier (with a Heavy Freight Card if you can)
- Connect the Iron Mine to the Coal Mine (I used a Cheap Bridges card)
- Connect the Steelworks to the two Fishing Docks still in construction ; this should look like this :
- Connect the already unlocked Fishing Dock the the middle Fishing Dock
- Build a Passenger Terminal Station (PTS) next to the City on the right, like this :
- Connect the Pier to the 4th PTS hub with a Freight Train
- Connect the Coal Mine to the lower Logging Camp
- Connect the Coal Mine to the Steelworks (with a Heavy Freight Card if you can)
- Connect the top City to the 1st PTS hub with a Passenger Train
- Connect the two Cities on the left with a Freight Train
- Connect the Coal to the lower City
- Connect the lower City to the 2nd PTS hub (make it coast 250$ or more and use an Express Train card if you can ; this will unlock the Star Challenge !)
- Connect the Pier to the last PTS hub with a Passenger Train
Eveningstar Valley – Level 1
If you want to be sure to unlock the two challenges using this solution, I would recommend you restart the level until you get a Heavy Freight Card. Don’t forget to collect as many Lost Goods as you can ! This solution is not universal and depends on which cards you get.
- Create a Steelworks on the lower Construction Site and a Tool Factory on the left
- Connect them both to the City
- Connect the Coal Mine and Iron Mine (one station only) to the Tool Factory (use a Heavy Freight Card if you can)
- Connect the two Cities, using 4 cards (adapt depending on which cards you have) ; I used Railroad Crossing, Luxury Passenger Train, Free Parallel Tracks and Cheap Rails (this will unlock the Star Challenge !) :
- Create a Tool Factory under the existing Tool Factory
- Connect it to the Steelworks
- Create another Steelworks on the upper left side corner of the river
- Connect the Coal Mine and the Iron Mine
- Connect the Coal Mine to the nearest City
- Connect the Dairy Farm to the lower Coal Mine
- Connect the Dairy Farm to the same city we connected the Coal Mine to
- On the left side of the map, connect the Steelworks to the Iron Mine (use a Heavy Freight Train if you can)
- Connect the two Dairy Farms
- Upgrade the lower City
- On the lower side of the map, create industries just like this :
- Build a Water Bridge connecting the Steelworks and the Tool Factory
- Connect the two Cheeseries on the left side of the map
- Connect the Iron Mine and the Coal Mine (one station only) to the Cheesery if you have a Mountain Train Card ; if not, connect them to the Tool Factory
- Connect the Cheesery on the right to the Tool Factory
- Connect the Tool Factory to the other Cheesery, the one on the left
- Connect the Cheesery to the Steelworks (use a Heavy Freight Card if you can)
- Connect one of the two Dairy Farms to anything else !
Eveningstar Valley – Level 2
This solution is not universal and depends on which cards you get.
- Connect the Wheat Farm and the Mill as follows :
- Connect the two Wheat Farms together
- Connect the Wheat Farm and the Mill on the right
- Build a Water Bridge from the Wheat Farm to the other Mill
- Connect the Mill to the Cheesery
- Connect the Cheesery to the Wheat Farm
- Connect the Cheesery to the other Wheat Farm
- Connect the Wheat Farm to the last Mill
- Connect the Dairy Farm to the City
- Connect the Dairy Farm to the two Mills on its left
- Connect the Mega Bread Factory to the Fishing Dock
- Connect the Mill to the City
- Connect the Wheat Farm to the lower Mill or City
- Connect the same Wheat Farm to the Fishing Dock (use a Heavy Fraight Card if you can)
Eveningstar Valley – Level 3
This solution is not universal and depends on which cards you get. Remember to use your many cards during this level, espacially since you need to have no cards left at the end of this level to unlock its Star Challenge !
- Connect the two Cities with a Free Water Bridges Card and an Express Train Card ; then, use a Free Parallel Tracks to connect them with a Freight Train ; this should look like this :
- Connect the two Fishing Docks
- Connect the Fish to the Dairy
- Connect the Dairy Farm to the City (use a Heavy Freight Train Card if you can !)
- Connect the two Dairy Farms together
- Connect the Iron and Coal Mine (one station only) to the Cheesery ; build the stations as follows to spend less money and optimise your connections :
- Connect the same Mines to the Dairy Farm
- Connect the lower Mines (one station only) to the Steelworks
- Connect the Steelworks to the Cheesery
- Connect the last Cheesery to the Dairy Farm
- Connect the Steelworks at the top to the Logging Camp
- Connect the two Logging Camps together
- Connect these Logging Camps to the rest of the network, using all your cards to unlock the Star Challenge !
Eveningstar Valley – Level 4
You should adapt your paths between two buildings to use your cards as best as possible. However, for once, I can assure you that this solution is universal and will allow you to unlock the two Challenges of the level ! You can spot a few connections that allow you to connect several lost goods at once : use your “Double lost goods” cards on these connections.
For this specific level, we will be connecting buldings that are still under construction, so make sure you put your stations on top of them so that they are well connected once the buildings are built.
- Connect Group A
- Connect Group B
- Build the last Connection (use a Heavy Freight Card)
Eveningstar Valley – Level 5
I will abbreviate Passenger Terminal Station to PTS for this solution.
- Build a Passenger Terminal Station (PTS) next to the city, just like this :
- Connect the two Towns on the right to the City with Mixed Trains (to the 1st and 4thPTS hubs) ; use a Free Water Bridges Card to cross the river (see next screenshot)
- Connect the two other Towns to the City with Passenger Trains (to the 2nd and 3rd PTS hubs) ; use a Free Parallel Tracks Card to cross the river next to the previous Water Bridge ; your map should now look like this :
- On the top side of the river, connect the Town on the right to the Bakery
- Connect the Bakery to the Wheat Farm
- Connect the Wheat Farm to the Cheesery
- Connect the Fishing Dock to the Dairy Farm
- Connect the Dairy Farm to the Mill
- Connect the Mill to the Wheat Farm (use a Heavy Freight Card)
- Connect the Tool Factory to the Steelworks
- Connect the lower right Town to the Steelworks
- Connect the Iron Mine and the Coal Mine (one station only) to the Steelworks (use a Heavy Freight Card) ; you should now have all cards and buildings unlocked !
- Upgrade the City
- Connect all the lower unconnected buildings together
- Connect one of them to the lower right Town
- Connect all the upper unconnected buildings together
- Connect the Dairy Farm to the Wheat Farm (use a Heavy Freight Card)
Last Achievement to unlock : “Pet me please”
If you haven’t looked at the achievements before playing and you’ve just completed all the challenges and levels in the game, you’ll be surprised to realise that you’re missing an achievement !
Don’t worry : all you have to do is to play a level with a Wheat Farm on the map, and add some colour to it (activate it) to make a dog appear. Click on it to pet it !
Game Tips
In this section, I’ll be sharing some of the tips I use for my own gaming pleasure.
Sometimes you find yourself blocked, or forced to use bridges, because you’ve blocked yourself by connecting station hubs that cut off access from other buildings.
To limit this inconvenience, I usually connect my stations as follows :
This ensures that I have at least one free hub on each side of the railroad.
Also, hovering your mouse over buildings still under construction will sometimes tell you in advance what they will be. This is a great clue if you want to connect your stations together while saving space for future connections.
This may seem obvious to some of you, but it took me many hours of playing before I realised it was possible. However, be careful to control the station and make sure you don’t need a bridge to link the hubs to the ground on certain sides, especially when you’re playing the game unzoomed.
