Martian Utopia
  • Your score at the end will be set by your total support points and its income, size of population, resource production, terraforming steps and production.
  • The two most important resources are food and science (food for pop buildings, science for terraforming bacteria), with energy being next, mostly because you go through it to explore. Food is a big deal – you need it to claim spaces for mines/outdoor buildings and to expand to new spots on the globe so that you can explore cheaply.
  • The passive abilities from leaders carry over from leader to leader and add up in the end. You can actually see the current passive abilities you posses, in the top right corner of the screen at all times.
  • In the early game, look for a building that gives a bonus to other buildings of the same type (food and power are both relatively common). If you arrange your buildings properly, this can provide a +3 or +4 per turn resource boost, which is huge.
  • Prioritised keeping everyone happy by spacing population buildings one spot apart and placing something that boosted their happiness between them (whatever it is offered and you can afford).
  • Always have a priority building in mind and use the trade route every turn to get its materials faster.
  • The sooner you launch bacteria, the faster you will get results from terraforming. The best scenario after 10th day is to have a leader with science skill, but if you have a leader with that skill before and don’t want to take the risk of not getting a leader with science skill, use the skill to farm science. Pay attention to the terraforming breakpoints – if a building doesn’t provide enough terraforming boost to hit a breakpoint before the end of the game, it’s mostly wasted. These are also huge, as you get 100 points at the end of the game for each terraforming level plus a flat support boost of 100-200 points depending on the step achieved.
