Unreal Tournament 3 Black Edition: How to Unlock the Framerate

This is a short guide to unlocking the framerate in Unreal Tournament 3.

How to Unlock the Framerate
I will show you how to access the needed .ini text file and configure it to unlock the FPS in the simplest way possible. Sorry that I don’t have any pictures to better demonstrate, but follow the steps and you won’t have too much of a problem. It’s fairly easy to do. So let’s get into it…

Step 1

Open the config folder located in Documents, the file path looks like this:
C:\Users\username\Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Config

Step 2

Find and open UTEngine.ini

Step 3

Find this line:
bSmoothFrameRate=TRUE
On your keyboard, press Ctrl+F and type in bSmoothFrameRate=TRUE or bsm for short and click Find Next. It will find the specific line needed.

Step 4

Change TRUE to FALSE, it should look like this:
bSmoothFrameRate=FALSE

Step 5

Save the file.
Hint: if it doesn’t allow you to save, open the UTEngine.ini properties and un-check the “Read-only” attribute.

Step 6

Run the game and enjoy!
