Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 – Achievement Guide 100%

This guide shows you a clear path to every achievement in Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2. If you are new to the game or just hunting trophies, the steps below cover all 16 of them from start to finish.

Use Ctrl+F to jump to a specific achievement fast. I wrote this to save you time, so you can focus on the purging.

What You Are Getting Into

The Emperor calls you back to cleanse an isolated star system. The daemon engine of Vashtorr the Arkifane has awakened, and your job is to burn it to ash. Getting 100% takes patience, a strong trigger finger, and a lot of spilled heretic blood.

The achievements break down into five simple groups. Story progress, the two playable characters, the four difficulty tiers, the collectible hunts, and a couple of one-off tasks. Here is the important part before you start: you need a minimum of 2 playthroughs for 100%.

Detail Value
Total achievements 16
Offline achievements 16
Online achievements 0
Difficulty rating Medium (6/10)
Estimated completion time 15–20 hours
Minimum playthroughs 2
Glitched achievements None
Missable achievements None, all levels are replayable
Difficulty-based achievements Yes
DLC required for 100% No DLC required

Good news first. There are no glitched achievements, and nothing is missable. Every level can be replayed if you need to go back. That takes a lot of pressure off the whole run.

Story Achievements (Unmissable)

One block of achievements comes from simply finishing the campaign. You fight from planet to planet, from the cleansing of Novoza to the victory on Amara Mors, and the rewards unlock on their own. You cannot miss them as long as you keep moving forward.

Choose Your Champion: Malum and Nyra

The big new feature in this sequel is character choice. You can play the whole campaign as **Malum Caedo**, the veteran Space Marine, or as **Nira Veyrat**, the Battle Sister. Some achievements require you to finish the story with both of them. That is why two playthroughs are needed.

If you plan both runs early, you can learn a different combat style each time. I found that splitting the characters this way kept the second run from feeling repetitive.

Malum Caedo vs. Nira Veyrat

The two heroes play nothing alike. This is not just a skin swap. Malum is the classic heavy trooper. Nira is faster and more technical. Here is how they compare.

Character Style Strengths Weaknesses Best For
Nira Veyrat (Battle Sister) Ultra-mobile, technical “rogue-like” play. Built around dodging, staying airborne, and managing abilities powered by the Faith meter. Huge mobility with fast dashes. Faith buffs to amplify attacks. Easy platform scaling for vertical kills. Fresh combat pacing. Very fragile with small health and shields. One stray rocket can send you back to a checkpoint on high difficulty. High skill ceiling with tight timing and cooldown loops. Struggles when cornered in tight spaces. Veterans of fast arena shooters like Doom Eternal or Ultrakill. Players who love resource management. Anyone trading health for speed.
Malum Caedo (Space Marine) Classic tank and heavy shock trooper. Holds positions, trades damage, and dashes straight into enemy crowds. High baseline health and armor. Forgives tactical mistakes. Power dash breaks through or escapes encirclement. Familiar moveset for Boltgun veterans. Low base speed when dashes are on cooldown. Harder to dodge dense homing orbs. Vulnerable once armor is stripped in long fights. Beginners and anyone wanting a safer run on Exterminatus. Fans of the original Boltgun. Players who enjoy direct, heavy kills.

The Four Difficulty Tiers

A set of achievements asks you to beat the campaign on each difficulty level. Here is who each one is built for, so you can pick the right starting point.

No mercy for the traitor — Pick this if you are here for the story and atmosphere. You want to feel like an invincible demigod and purge without stress while exploring the maps.

No rest whilst heresy persists — A balanced pick for casual shooter fans. Fast action where timing matters, but mistakes are still forgiven.

Emperor’s wrath delivered — For hardcore boomer shooter fans of DOOM, Quake, or the first Boltgun. A fair but tough test of your full arsenal and character mechanics.

Weapon of the Emperor — This is Exterminatus mode. For masochists and speedrunners who want to conquer the impossible. If the original Boltgun is your match, start here.

Tackling Exterminatus Difficulty

Exterminatus is the real test. Remember that the game uses replayable levels, so at worst your run boils down to rushing the exit. That said, do not treat it like a speedrun. Enemy fire density jumps up hard, and ammo and health packs become scarce. One bad position and you are dead. Play with tactical positioning and steady elimination instead.

A quick note on a training ground. The original game had a Horde mode with small arenas and enemy waves, which was perfect practice. In Boltgun 2 that mode is absent at launch, same as the original, but it is expected to arrive later. If it is already out when you read this, use it to sharpen the rules below.

Malum or Nyra for Exterminatus?

I strongly recommend Malum Caedo here. Your character sets your play style, and if you played the first Boltgun, you already understand Malum. That saves you from silly deaths that were easy to avoid.

Malum also has a large health and armor pool, which lets you hold good positions or break distance from dangerous targets. Nira pays for her speed with fragility. A random rocket you dash into can end your run instantly.

Learn to read your position at any moment and trade resources with enemies. After a few levels you will feel which elements matter most to you.

Golden Rules of Arena Combat

Forget running and gunning. On Exterminatus this becomes a tactical arena shooter where every meter is won with your head.

  • Never stand still. Movement is survival. Enemies lead their shots, Plague Toad projectiles fly in dense volleys, and some foes have homing attacks. Keep strafing, jumping, and dashing. Be a hard target, but do not run into projectiles yourself.
  • Use verticality. Enemy AI calculates trajectories poorly when you are far above or below. Leap across floors and platforms to control mobs and dodge high-threat targets.
  • Prioritize targets. When a Purge event starts, clear spawn generators and long-range threats first.
  • Corner and cover control. Pillars and ledges break line of sight from boss volleys while your shields recharge or you swap weapons.
  • The arena is your friend. Watch for explosive barrels and detonate them only when a dense cluster passes. Some arenas hide invulnerability or infinite ammo relics. Do not grab them at the start; wait for the hardest wave, then activate the buff.
  • Do not melee without shields. Malum’s chainsword hits hard, but long melee animations turn you into a sitting duck. Save melee for isolated targets to restore resources.
  • Do not hoard heavy ammo. Save charges for your Plasma Gun, Melta Gun, or Rocket Launcher to melt tanky enemies. But do not die with full pockets. In a pinch, spend heavy ammo on regular enemies.
  • Watch your back. Spawn scripts often drop enemies behind you, especially during intense arena Purges.

Here is how I rank threats during a Purge. This order kept me alive more than anything else. Priority 1 is turrets, Lords of Change, Tzeentch Sorcerers, and rocket launcher Heretics. Priority 2 is light infantry that blocks your movement. Priority 3 is heavy targets like Plague Marines, Terminators, and bosses, saved for last once the trash is clear. Fighting the big threats first feels natural, but you cannot afford to ignore basic mobs here.

Should You Grab Secrets on Exterminatus?

Yes, but without going overboard. For **Seals of Purity**, save them for your second, easier run. They often sit in hard-to-reach spots where you lose health, armor, or ammo just getting there.

Other secret areas hold power-ups that buff weapon damage until the level ends. Those are worth grabbing. They help you kill faster and save ammo. Chipping a boss down with a basic bolter on Exterminatus is a slow, painful grind.

Purification Complete and Pathfinder (Seal and Secret Locations)

These two achievements require exploring every corner of the levels to find every hidden Seal of Purity and secret cache. Check under every suspicious wall. The videos below mark each one by level, and I left the timestamps from the source so you can jump straight to a spot.

The first video covers The Arkifane Emerges. In Shattered Station: Secret 1 at 00:00, Purity Seal at 0:30, Secret 2 at 0:48. In Dauntless: Secret 1 at 0:59, Secret 2 at 1:19, Secret 3 at 1:42, Secret 4 at 2:11, Purity Seal at 2:33, Secret 5 at 2:46.

The second video covers There Is Only War. In The Trenches: Secret 1 at 00:00, Secret 2 at 0:20, Secret 3 at 0:47, Purity Seal at 1:22, Secret 4 at 1:37. In Munitions Mayhem: Secret 1 at 1:56, Secret 2 at 2:10, Secret 3 at 2:32, Secret 4 at 2:52, Purity Seal at 3:08, Secret 5 at 3:19, Secret 6 at 3:36, Secrets 7-8 at 3:45. In Chaos In The City: Secret 1 at 4:28, Secret 2 at 4:45, Purity Seal at 5:03, Secret 3 at 5:32, Secret 4 at 5:50, Secret 5 at 6:13.

The third video covers Nurgle Nightmare. In Welcome To The Wilds: Secret 1 at 00:00, Secret 2 at 0:21, Purity Seal at 0:40, Secret 3 entrance access at 1:12, Secret 3 at 1:40, Secret 4 at 2:07. In The Bastion: Secret 1 at 2:32, Secret 2 at 2:55, Secret 3 at 3:22, Secret 4 at 3:42, Secret 5 at 4:00, Purity Seal at 4:22. In Festering Bog: Secret 1 at 4:51, Secret 2 at 5:11, Secret 3 at 5:29, Secret 4 at 5:58, Purity Seal at 6:34. In The Vile Root: Secret 1 at 7:03, Secret 2 at 7:17, Secret 3 at 7:44, Secret 4 at 8:10, Purity Seal at 8:32.

One thing worth flagging on The Vile Root seal. You need to shoot the bell about 7 times. If it does not work, reset the checkpoint; if that still fails, reset the mission. This one failed a few times even after resetting the level, so do not assume you did it wrong.

The fourth video covers the Dilapidated Prison. In the Dilapidated Prison level: Secret 1 at 00:00, Secret 2 at 0:19, Purity Seal at 0:51, Secret 3 at 1:11, Secret 4 at 1:30.

The fifth video covers Mountain Of Skulls. In Blood Fortress: Secret 1 at 00:00, Purity Seal at 0:19, Secret 2 at 0:42, Secret 3 at 1:00, Secret 4 at 1:29. In Blood Cascade: Secret 1 at 1:50, Secret 2 at 2:09, Secret 3 at 2:27, Purity Seal at 2:47, Secret 4 at 3:18. In Blood Machine: Secret 1 at 3:36 (quicksave before attempting), Secret 2 at 3:58, Secret 3 at 4:16, Secret 4 at 4:37, Purity Seal at 5:10.

For Ultramar! / Faith and Fury

These achievements tie to finishing the campaign with each character. Play the story fully as Malum Caedo and fully as Nira Veyrat. As covered above, the two heroes differ in mechanics and arsenal, not just looks. Do both, and these unlock along the way.

Chaos Filth (Taunt a Nurgling)

On PC the taunt key is T. As Malum Caedo he shouts quotes from the Codex Astartes and insults heretics. As Nira Veyrat she recites prayers and vows to burn enemies with holy fire. To unlock this, aim your crosshair at any Nurgling and taunt while locked on it. I walked past the first few Nurglings without realizing they were the target, so keep an eye out for the small ones.

Mission Complete (All Achievements)

This is the final reward. To get it, you must unlock every other achievement in the game. That means a full campaign clear, all secrets found, the specific combat conditions like taunting a Nurgling, and a win on the highest difficulty. Once everything else is done, this one pops.

Conclusion

That is the full map to 100% in Boltgun 2. Two runs, four difficulties, and a keen eye for secrets will get you there. Purge well, and have fun doing it.
