Three skulls are hidden in the Heavy Burden mission, and missing even one means replaying the entire level. This guide pinpoints each location with specific landmarks and enemy encounters so you grab all three in a single run.
Overview
Heavy Burden is the final prequel mission in Halo: Campaign Evolved. The three skulls are easier to find than in the previous level, but the third one requires quick timing. Each skull is tied to a distinct area: an upper walkway, a multi-level gold room, and a moving platform. Follow the mission order below, and you will collect them all without backtracking.
Skull 1: Walkway with Two Elites
The first skull is on an upper walkway early in the mission. When you reach a walkway with two Elites on the upper level, do not follow the mission marker across the middle level. Turn around instead. Go through the door behind you. At the end of this walkway, the skull is sitting in plain sight. Grab it and walk back around to continue.
Skull 2: Multi-Level Gold Room
The second skull is in a large gold room with multiple levels and fire-like flowers. You will know you are in the right room when you see the layered platforms. The skull is on the top level. Head toward where the Grunts are positioned. Clear out the enemies first. Then go up to the Grunt area. Jump on the fire, jump across to the next platform, and jump up to grab the skull. The jump is straightforward, but the fire can obscure your landing.
Skull 3: Moving Platform Under the Bridge
The third skull is the trickiest. It is on a moving platform during the second stage of the mission. After you enable the power and the platform starts moving again, you will pass through an area with many enemies on the side. Wait until you go under a bridge — this is your mark point. Take out the Brutes before they jump onto your raft. Once under the bridge, you have about 10 seconds before you go out of bounds. Jump as far as you can to the left-hand side back corner of the platform to grab the skull. Then run back immediately. It may take a few attempts to get the timing right.
