The Into the Abyss update adds a proper endgame chase: the Tier 4 Striped Armor set. It’s locked behind a single elite creature, the Striped Scorpion, and a handful of components that drop from it and the new Tick. The full unlock path runs from locating the spawn point in the south biome to scanning the right parts at a lab station. The armor’s set bonus, Venom Body Attack, makes it the best defensive option for the poison-heavy zones added in the update. Here’s the exact route, the combat loadout that works, and the stats you’re actually getting for the grind.
The Striped Scorpion Spawn Location
The Striped Scorpion doesn’t wander the whole map. You need to head to the south biome, inside Nilly Baruk Bayan on the left side of the map view. Look for a large machine structure in that zone — the creature spawns directly underneath it, near the base of the new tree. 
The spawn is consistent, but the creature doesn’t respawn instantly. If you kill it and need another drop, leave the area and return after a full in-game day cycle. It’s a fixed spawn, not a random encounter, so you won’t find it anywhere else on the map.
You don’t need a spider companion to reach this area. The route down is accessible with standard gear, though you’ll want decent stamina — the south biome has several vertical drops and a few hostile clusters along the way.
Combat Strategy: Smash Damage and the Stinger Weak Point
Before you engage, scan the Striped Scorpion. The scanner will confirm what you should already suspect: it’s weak to Smash damage. Bring a club-type weapon — the higher the tier, the better. A Tier 3 or Tier 4 club will cut the fight time significantly.
The fight itself follows the same pattern as the normal scorpion. It uses the same venom attack telegraphs, the same pincer swipes, and the same lunge. If you’ve fought the regular variant, you already know the dodge timings. The difference is raw stats — the Striped variant hits harder and has more HP, so don’t get greedy with your combos.
Focus your attacks on the stinger. That’s the weak point. Hitting it deals noticeably more damage than body shots, and it’s the only part that matters for the drop table. Target the stinger, strafe around its side, and back off when it starts the venom spray animation.
Warning: The venom spray covers a wide arc. If you’re in melee range when it starts, you’ll eat the full hit. Back off early — the recovery window after the spray is long enough for a full combo on the stinger.
Loot Drops and the Tick Fang
Defeating the Striped Scorpion drops two items:
- Striped Scorpion Pincer
- Striped Scorpion Stinger
That’s the full drop table. No rare variants, no bonus rolls — just those two components. You need both for the armor, so you’ll be farming this creature at least once.
The third component, Tick Fang, comes from the new Tick creature introduced in the same update. Ticks spawn frequently in the area next to the new tree in the south biome, inside the nearby Barca biome. Unlocking the Armor Recipe at the Lab
Once you have the Pincer, the Stinger, and the Tick Fang, head to a lab station with a scanner. Interact with the scanner and select each component to analyze it. The game will register the new materials and unlock the Striped Armor recipe in your crafting menu.
You need to scan all three components — scanning just one or two won’t unlock the full set. The recipe appears under the armor tab once all three are registered.
Striped Armor Stats and the Venom Body Attack Set Bonus
The full set grants the Venom Body Attack bonus. When equipped, your body becomes a venom source — enemies that hit you in melee take poison damage back. The return damage isn’t massive, but it stacks with your own attacks and makes the armor excellent for prolonged fights against poison-weak enemies.

The practical value: this is the armor you wear when farming the new south biome. The poison return damage helps clear the Tick swarms faster, and the defense values hold up against the Striped Scorpion’s hits. It’s not the highest raw defense in the game, but the set bonus makes it the best option for poison-heavy zones.

Tip: If you’re farming the Striped Scorpion multiple times, bring a repair kit. The fight is short, but the stinger is a small hitbox and you’ll be swinging at it repeatedly — weapon durability drops faster than you’d expect.
