Aion 2 Tier List: Best Classes Rranked!

I’ve been grinding Aion 2 endgame for a while now, and the one question that keeps coming up in every Discord and guild chat is the same: which class actually does the most damage right now? Not vibes, not “my buddy says,” but real numbers from the hardest content in the game. So I pulled the data from the toughest dungeons on the global server, crunched the ranks across every encounter, and put together a full breakdown of where each class actually sits.

If you’re deciding what to main, thinking about rerolling, or just want to know whether your class is secretly carrying or secretly slacking, this is the breakdown I wish someone had handed me on day one.

How the DPS Rankings Actually Work

Before you look at any list, you need to know what you’re looking at. These rankings are built from factual endgame performance data, not opinion. Everything was pulled from the hardest content in the game:

  • Vakron Sky Island
  • Fire Temple
  • Ferocious Horn Den
  • Dose Research Base
  • Transcendent Stage 4
  • Shattered Arcanis

Each location has different bosses, so a class that dominates one fight might fall off in another. That’s exactly why the ranking uses aggregate points instead of a single fight.

A few things worth knowing about the method:

  • Vakron Sky Island was excluded from the main ranking. Early-game characters aren’t fully online yet, and overpowered characters can clear it in as little as 24 seconds. That makes it a bad measuring stick.
  • The primary stat is top 50 average DPS plus the median, so one freak outlier doesn’t blow up the whole chart.
  • Rankings include a range. For example, Chanters in Fire Temple on the first boss, Red Spark Ignis, range from 45k DPS up to 83k, with an average Chanter DPS around 55,000.
  • Each class gets a rank per encounter (Chanter 1 point, Spiritmaster 2 points, Sorceress 3 points, Ranger 4 points), and those points get aggregated across every category into a spreadsheet to produce an average rank.

One important caveat: this metric purely ranks DPS. Tanks and healers will naturally rank lower because that’s not their job. Cleric, for instance, sits last on damage but is the single most sought-after class for high-end dungeons. Many groups won’t even attempt a dungeon without one because of its big bursty heals.

Overall Class Rankings by DPS

Here’s the aggregate ranking across multiple bosses and multiple hard content. This is the one list to screenshot.

Rank Class Notes
1 Chanter Highest average DPS class in the game right now
2 Sorcerer Strong across the board
3 Ranger Safe and consistent
4 Gladiator Beats Spiritmaster and Assassin
5 Spiritmaster Close to Gladiator
6 Assassin Large gap from Spiritmaster; underperforming
7 Templar Very close to Assassin’s DPS
8 Cleric Last ranked, but it’s the healer

Templar is the main tank, soaking damage and providing utility, so its low DPS slot isn’t a knock on the class. Same story for Cleric. If you’re picking a class purely to top damage meters, the top four are where you live.

Why Chanter Is the Current Top DPS

Chanter is the top DPS in almost every activity, or at least very close to it. In Ferocious Horn Den, Chanter has both the highest average DPS and the highest peak DPS. In one encounter it gets beaten out by the Ranger, but that’s the exception, not the rule. In Stage 1 of Dose Research Base, Chanter nearly doubles other classes’ damage at peak. The range there is 10k to 131k, which screams “one player had a monster run,” but across the board Chanter averages out as number one.

So why is Chanter so far ahead right now? A few reasons:

  • The game is still in an early endgame state. Crazy super minmaxing hasn’t happened yet.
  • The Korea and Taiwan servers have more stigma points and the ability to equip multiple stigmas. Many DPS classes come online and hyperperform once all stigmas are unlocked and ranked 20. Chanter instead gets huge power spikes very early.
  • Chanter was recently buffed on the Korea/Taiwan servers to keep up with other classes, and the global release received that balance without DPS classes getting their full kit.
  • Chanter’s highest damage ability, Dark Crush, gets an augment/node that gives it basically zero cooldown at level 16. Other classes need their bigger power spikes to reach that kind of output.

That last point is the big one. Assassin, for example, really wants five stigmas instead of four to unlock a lot of its damage. Chanter just needs level 16 and one node.

The Most Underperforming Class Right Now: Assassin

Assassin is currently very much underperforming in endgame DPS rankings, which stings because on Korea and Taiwan servers it’s one of the strongest DPS classes, especially when overleveling content. It’s genuinely great at burst damage. In prolonged fights it doesn’t usually do as much, but in short fights it pumps some of the highest burst in the game.

So why the gap on global? A few reasons:

  • It’s one of the hardest classes to execute well. It’s very squishy, has to be in melee range of big bosses, and has to land all its damage on the back of bosses.
  • Many players doing these fights are doing them for the very first time.
  • In higher-end content, groups aren’t even accepting Assassins because there’s a larger chance of failure. It’s harder to tell a good Assassin from a bad one, unlike a Ranger who is safe, consistent, and basically holds down one button.

Warning: If you’re pugging endgame as Assassin, expect some group leaders to pass on you purely because of the risk. It’s not personal, it’s the meta.

The Surprising Rank 4: Gladiator

Gladiator landing in the top four is the result that surprised me most. It beats out both Spiritmaster and Assassin in DPS. Spiritmaster isn’t a major concern though, since it’s known as one of the most cracked DPS classes once it gets all of its stuff, particularly on the Korea/Taiwan servers.

Gladiator’s performance swings depending on the encounter:

Encounter Gladiator Rank
Ferocious Horn Den (boss 1) 4
Ferocious Horn Den (next boss) 2
Ferocious Horn Den (next boss) 4
Fire Temple 2, 2, 2
Shattered Arcanis Lower down
Transcendent Stage 4 Lower down

On the hardest encounters where damage is more of a threat, Shattered Arcanis and Transcendent Stage 4, Gladiators drop lower and aren’t quite as dominant because scarier things happen in those dungeons. But in Fire Temple and Ferocious Horn Den, Gladiators put up good DPS when they can full focus damage, stick to a boss, and not worry too much about dying.

Training Dummy DPS Rankings

Training dummy rankings measure top damage on a target that isn’t hitting back. This is the pure output ceiling test, and it tells a different story than live fights.

Rank Class Notes
1 Gladiator Second highest average damage; confirms full-damage Gladiators hit hard
2 Assassin Great dummy DPS; has the damage, just harder to execute live
3 Ranger Reliable
4 Templar Solid
5 Cleric Respectable
6 Sorcerer Lower on dummies than live
7 Spiritmaster No data available

The Assassin result here is the interesting one. In a scenario with no incoming damage and perfect execution, Assassins do great damage. That confirms the class isn’t broken, it’s just punishing. Gladiator topping the dummy chart also backs up the earlier point about Gladiators being monsters when they’re free to focus purely on damage.

What This Means for Picking Your Class

Here’s the honest summary. The global release still has a fairly limited version of the full game that has been out for over a year in Korea and Taiwan, so balance will change. The developers do balance updates, and metas will shift. This ranking is a snapshot, not a permanent verdict.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Even the top DPS in many dungeons compared to the lowest DPS was within a 25% margin. The differences aren’t as extreme as the tier list makes them look.
  • Chanter is a pretty good option if you’re jumping in right now and want to be strong immediately.
  • But ultimately, play the class you enjoy the most, even if it isn’t always the strongest.

If you main Assassin and love it, stick with it. The class is strong on other servers and the global version will catch up. If you’re a fresh player who wants the path of least resistance to big damage numbers, Chanter is the obvious pick. Everyone else sits somewhere in a fairly tight band, and the 25% margin means skill and execution matter more than the tier list suggests.
