Who is the Suanni Hermit?
Centuries ago, Suannis were considered divine beasts, held in esteem akin to the Adepti, residing in the secluded Chenyun Valley, detached from worldly possessions. However, their descendants have turned into formidable monsters, among them the so-called Hermit, who serves as a boss in Genshin Impact’s storyline.
Finding the Suanni Hermit in Genshin Impact
The Suanni can be found in Chenyun Valley. The exact location of the arena is marked on the map, note that it’s situated underground. Access to the battleground is facilitated by golden carps, which can whisk you across vast distances in seconds. If you’ve activated the Statue of the Seven nearby, it can also serve as a convenient access point.
Ideal Team Composition for the Suanni Hermit Battle
Since the boss wields Anemo and Hydro powers, characters of these elements will be less effective. It’s advisable to opt for Pyro, Electro, or Cryo fighters instead. Complement your main attacker with characters that can enhance or synergize with their abilities. For instance, Anemo characters can trigger the Swirl reaction, amplifying elemental damage dealt.

- Streaming Essential Oil: Boosts Hydro damage by 25% for 300 seconds
- Flaming Essential Oil: Raises Pyro damage by 25% for 300 seconds
- Insulation Potion: Enhances Electro damage by 25% for 300 seconds
Effective Food Items:
- Adeptus’ Temptation: Increases ATK by 372 and CRIT Rate by 12% for 300 seconds
- Lotus Seed and Bird Egg Soup: Boosts DEF by 235 for 300 seconds
- Jade Parcels: Enhances CRIT Rate by 20% for 300 seconds
Battle Tactics Against the Suanni Hermit
Understanding the boss’s attacks and reacting appropriately is crucial to avoid damage and secure victory. Key moves to watch out for include:
- Water Absorption: When the boss starts absorbing water, hit it with a Cryo skill to freeze it, then follow up with any elemental reaction involving ice. Cryo works well with Pyro, Electro, and Hydro. If your team lacks Cryo characters, maintain distance to avoid damage.
- Elemental Explosions: These close-range attacks are easy to dodge; staying at range allows you to attack from a safe distance.
- Aerial Spheres: Initially, attack these spheres with Hydro, Electro, Cryo, or Pyro skills. Destroying all three spheres quickly will immobilize the boss, leaving it vulnerable. Failing to do so will cause the spheres to self-destruct, pulling your characters towards them.
- Tail Strikes: When the Hermit starts spinning and raising its tail, move away to avoid the attack and the subsequent water wave that deals damage.
- Aerial Attacks: The Suanni will occasionally take flight, launching Anemo spheres or blades at you. These can be dodged by dashing to the side.
Freezing the boss during water absorption and destroying Anemo spheres with elemental reactions are key to immobilizing it for a series of attacks. Distance fighters using catalysts or bows are recommended, while melee fighters should be ready to dodge and heal as necessary.
