Palworld 1.0: Lunaris and Grintale Locations & Breeding Guide

Lunaris and Grintale are two of the more frustrating Pals to track down in Palworld 1.0 — one hides in a wildlife sanctuary with a single-digit spawn rate, and the other only comes out at night in a forest that stretches further than you’d expect. This guide consolidates every confirmed wild spawn point for both Pals and the breeding recipes that bypass the RNG entirely, so you can add them to your team without burning hours on respawn resets.

Quick Summary: Lunaris has a low-level spawn at Seabbze Archipelago Castaway Beach (998, 713) with a 3–5% spawn rate, plus a guaranteed Alpha boss spawn ~10 levels higher. Grintale spawns nocturnally in Cineoth Forest (-69, -273) and during the day in southeastern Sakuraima at much higher levels. Both have reliable breeding alternatives.

Lunaris Locations in Palworld 1.0

The lowest-level Lunaris spawn sits at Seabbze Archipelago Castaway Beach, coordinates 998, 713. From the fast travel point, head east into the wildlife sanctuary — any Pal that spawns in this sanctuary has a chance to roll as Lunaris, though the odds sit at roughly 3–5%. That’s low enough that you’ll likely need to reset the area several times by leaving and returning.

The spawn range in this sanctuary is generous, and Lunaris can also appear at a few additional spots within the same region. There’s also a volcano location that functions as another low-level spawn area, which is worth checking if you’re already in the area farming other Pals.

If you want a guaranteed encounter, there’s a Lunaris Alpha boss spawn in the region. The catch: it’s about 10 levels higher than the wild spawns, so bring appropriate firepower or a decent team of Pals before you engage.

Tip: The 3–5% spawn rate at Castaway Beach means you should clear the sanctuary, fast travel away, and come back. Rinse and repeat. It’s tedious, but it’s the fastest wild-farming method available.

Lunaris Breeding Combos

If refreshing spawns isn’t your idea of fun, breeding is the more reliable route. The easiest early-game combo is:

Parent 1 Parent 2 Result
Leaffan Caprity Lunaris

Both parents spawn in the same region as the low-level Lunaris spawns, so you can farm them without leaving the area. Leaffan and Caprity are common enough that you shouldn’t struggle to grab a pair.

There are other Lunaris breed combos in the game, but this one stands out because of how accessible both parents are. If you’re playing through the early-to-mid game, this is the path of least resistance.

Note: If you already have a Lunaris, breeding it with certain Pals can also produce Lunaris eggs. Check the breeding menu in-game for the full list of alternatives.

Grintale Locations in Palworld 1.0

Grintale has two primary spawn regions, and they play very differently.

Cineoth Forest — coordinates -69, -273. This is the low-level option, but there’s a catch: Grintale is nocturnal here, so you must visit at night. From the Cineoth Forest fast travel point, head north along the road. The spawn range is large, covering a significant chunk of the forest. If you don’t spot one, travel down the road and turn back to reset the spawns.

Southeastern Sakuraima — the swampy area in this region also spawns Grintale, and it does so during the day. The tradeoff: these spawns are significantly higher level than the Cineoth Forest ones. If you’re hunting for a low-level Grintale to raise from scratch, stick to the forest at night. If you want a stronger catch for endgame content, Sakuraima is your spot.

Warning: The Sakuraima Grintale spawns can be a rude surprise if you’re underleveled. Check the Pal’s level before engaging — some of these spawns can wipe an unprepared team.

How to Breed Grintale

Breeding Grintale gives you a few solid options, depending on what parents you have on hand. Here are the confirmed combos:

Parent 1 Parent 2 Result
Gumoss Warsect Grintale
Jolthog Cryst Broncherry Grintale
Jolthog Suzaku Grintale
Jolthog Quivern Grintale
Pengullet Warsect Grintale
Pengullet Blazehowl Noct Grintale
Rooby Blazehowl Grintale

The Gumoss + Warsect combo is the most accessible early on — Gumoss is common in starting areas, and Warsect can be found in the mid-game zones without too much trouble.

Best Ways to Use Grintale in Breeding

Grintale isn’t just a destination — it’s also a useful parent for producing other Pals. Here are the most notable combos:

Parent 1 Parent 2 Child
Woolipop Terra Grintale Wixen
Eidrolon Ignis Grintale Helzephyr
Azurobe Cryst Grintale Kitsun
Icelyn Grintale Beakon
Loomen Grintale Prixter
Finsider Ignis Grintale Dazemu
Panthalus Grintale Reptyro

If you’re aiming for a Helzephyr or Kitsun, grabbing a Grintale first is a smart move. These combos give you a reason to breed multiple Grintales rather than just catching one and calling it done.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Mistake Consequence Fix
Visiting Cineoth Forest during the day No Grintale spawns Always go at night
Fighting Sakuraima Grintale underleveled Team wipe Check Pal level before engaging
Relying on wild Lunaris spawns only Hours wasted on 3–5% odds Use the Leaffan + Caprity breeding combo
Ignoring the Alpha Lunaris boss Missing a guaranteed catch Bring a strong team and take it down

Related Farming Notes

If you’re already in the breeding mindset, there’s a similar pattern with Silvegis — another Pal that benefits from targeted breeding over wild hunting. Breeding War Secteras (found near the Shield Dragon Tunnel area) with Dualith (located up on the map) produces Silvegis. Alternatively, War Secteras + Anubis also works. The Silvegis boss sits in Shield Dragon Tunnel on Fayebreak, with the fast travel point at -970, -977 — the tunnel entrance is slightly east of that point.

Final Thoughts

Lunaris and Grintale both have workable wild spawn locations, but the breeding routes are faster and more reliable in every case. For Lunaris, skip the 3–5% sanctuary grind and breed Leaffan with Caprity. For Grintale, hit Cineoth Forest at night if you want a low-level catch, or breed your way there with Gumoss + Warsect. Once you have a Grintale, hold onto it — it’s a valuable parent for several other breeding chains.
