Destiny 2: How To 1-Tap Punch (A Hunter Guide)

Today I will be teaching you how to 1 tap punch with your combination blow punch on arc hunter. Previously, I made guides on how to 1 tap with the throwing hammer back in Season of the Lost and, with the release of Witch Queen, a way to 1 tap with the void shoulder charge. There is a pretty easy way to 1 tap punch on arc hunter, though.

Weapons to Use

You’ll need some weapons to get higher damage with your melee. The most important thing to use is a shotgun with 1-2 punch. The best shotgun for this is The Deicide with grave robber + 1-2 punch. Now that this is unobtainable, you can craft a Ragnhild-D with auto-loading + 1-2 punch. For any Gambit players out there, you could also get the Dead Weight shotgun with grave robber + 1-2 punch as well.

Another weapon you should use is Tractor Cannon. This will apply a 30% health debuff to the enemy you are about to punch.

Exotic Armor

There are two options for exotic armor that you can use for this build. Liar’s Handshake or Assassin’s Cowl. You will want to use Liar’s Handshake for the highest damage possible and Assassin’s Cowl for better survivability.

The way Liar’s Handshake is activated is when using your Arc melee ability or being hit by a melee attack will allow you to follow up with an extremely powerful melee counter-punch that will heal you. For ease of use, let something melee first or melee, dodge, melee.

Assassin’s Cowl works when using charged melee’s. Charged melee final blows grant invisibility and restore a portion of health and shields. Finishers and final blows against more powerful targets increase the duration of the invisibility and the amount of health and shields restored.

Liar’s Handshake will give about 135% more damage on your melee, but Assassin’s Cowl will make it easier to survive. Both are great picks, so choose whichever exotic you feel is better.

Armor Mods

These mods are needed to increase your melee damage and allow your super to charge faster. The mods you will need are Melee Wellmaker, Well of Ions, Font of Wisdom, and Elemental Time Dilation.

Melee Wellmaker will create wells matching your subclass when you get a powered melee final blow. This means if you kill things with combination blow, you’ll get arc elemental wells. These arc wells will give energy back to your abilities, proc Well of Ions, Font of Wisdom, and Elemental Time Dilation.

Well of Ions will increase your melee damage by 30% for 11 seconds each time you pick up an arc elemental well.

Font of Wisdom will increase your intellect stat to 100 for 30 seconds whenever an elemental well matching your subclass is picked up.

Elemental Time Dilation will the extend the duration of Well of Ions and Font of Wisdom. The duration increase varies by base duration and number of mods equipped.

The only mods you really need is Melee Wellmaker and Well of Ions. I just use Font of Wisdom to get my super back easily and Elemental Time Dilation to provide me more time to run around between punching things. You could use whatever mods you think are useful as long as you keep Melee Wellmaker and Well of Ions equipped.

Subclass Picks

The only Subclass you want to use is Top-Tree Arc Hunter. You want to use Top-Tree Arc Hunter because of the perks Combination Blow and Combat Flow.

Combination Blow will proc when you kill an enemy with your charged melee. It will trigger health regeneration and increase your melee damage temporarily. Combination Blow stacks up to 3 times and lasts 15 seconds. It refreshes the timer each time you use your charged melee.

Combat Flow will recharge your dodge every time you get a melee kill. This is great to keep Combination Blow going.

The dodge you want to use is Gambler’s Dodge so you can dodge and melee as much as you want.

Finishing Touches

Alright, first you’ll have to get Combination Blow to x3. The strategy for this build is to melee and dodge repeatedly. After that, apply tractor cannon to the boss. Make sure to get melee’d first if you are using Liar’s Handshake for the most damage. Shoot your 1-2 punch shotgun and then melee.

This build is great for solo lost sectors and nightfalls.
