Distinct fish will need to be used to cook certain meals. For example, Lobster Roll and Lancetfish Paella will require lobster and lancetfish respectively. Recipes such as these do not allow substitutes.

Rainbow trout are some of the easier fish to catch, but swordfish will require quite a bit of time to catch. If you do catch a rare fish and are hesitant to mess up a certain recipe you have yet to attain, you can always keep fish or seafood in storage for use after you find the inevitable recipe in-game.

Foraging for most of these items does not expend energy and is a great way to quickly gather materials while attending to other activities. You can either sell the flowers for Star Coins or give them as gifts to increase friendship levels for your companions.

Some of these items such as clay are rarer to forage, for example. Moana will need your help gathering three Pink Hydrangeas for the Fixing the Boat quest, so some of these items will need to be chased down early and often. The map itself does not display foragable items, so you will need to wander through each biome to pick up any certain items.

Gems in Disney Dreamlight Valley can only be found when using your pickaxe and mining. Each biome in the game has specific gems to discover after mining. The shiny versions of each gem are rarer to receive, but grant an increased number of Star Coins in comparison to their more common types.

Mining for gems is an efficient way to earn Star Coins. By hanging out with a companion, you can increase the number of gems per mining effort. For some quests, such as With Great Power…, you will need one Peridot, one Garnet, and one Aquamarine to progress further. It is ideal to have a spare of each gem, if possible, for completing additional quests throughout the game.

In Disney Dreamlight Valley, a Disney character filled take on the farming/life sim genre, the entire economy hinges on you selling unwanted goods to Goofy. Goofy runs multiple stalls throughout the valley, each offering a different variety of seeds and produce, depending on which stall you go to.

There are a total of seven stalls, one in each of the unlockable biomes. Each stall requires an initial purchase to open the stall, with two more upgrades needed to unlock the full inventory. The cost of each stall and its upgrades varies from biome to biome, but the earlier ones are on the cheaper end, with the late-game biomes being much more expensive, with the upgrades running between 1,000 coins and 25,000 coins. Each stall can be accessed once you unlock its corresponding biome.

Peaceful Meadow
This biome is unlocked as part of the tutorial at the beginning of the game, located in the central part of the Peaceful Meadow, to the east of Merlin’s house.

Disney Dreamlight Valley provides plenty of friendships to develop with classic Disney and Pixar characters, but there are a variety of other creatures desiring your attention–or more specifically, your food. Scattered around each of the biomes in the game are critters that you can feed, and doing so will earn you rewards like cosmetic items and Dream Shards. Every critter is a bit different, though, as they all have a particular method of getting them to sit still and a favorite food that will offer better rewards. Here’s all of that info in one place for you.

How to approach each critter and what to feed them
Squirrels
Squirrels are found in the Plaza. Unlike some animals in later biomes, these little critters will generally just run up to you and wait for you to feed them when they’re hungry.

Favorite Food: Peanuts

Rabbits
Rabbits are found in the Peaceful Meadow. When they’re interested in food, they’ll run away from you just a bit and bounce up and down. Follow them and you’ll notice they run away and do it again. Keep following them and letting them bounce three times and they’ll finally let you feed them on the fourth stop.

Favorite Food: Carrots

Sea Turtles
Sea Turtles are found on Dazzle Beach. If they’re hungry, you’ll be able to approach them, at which point they’ll hide inside their shell. Simply stand there briefly until they pop back out and allow you to feed them.

Favorite Food: Seaweed

Raccoons
Raccoons are found in the Forest of Valor. These critters are fast-moving and hard to keep up with, but when they’re hungry, they’ll sit in one place and stare at you from afar. This is your opportunity to move closer to them quietly and slowly, only walking forward when they seem relaxed. If their head is up and looking around cautiously, they’ll run from you again. Eventually, you’ll get close enough to get the prompt to feed the little buggers.

Favorite Food: Blueberries

Crocodiles
Crocodiles are found in the Glade of Trust. They scurry around quite a lot, but like Raccoons, they’ll stop and watch you from afar when they’re hungry. When you see them standing still and glancing around cautiously, that’s your cue. Move slowly towards them when their heads are down, then stop as soon as they begin to look around again. Eventually, they’ll plop on the ground and await some chow.

Favorite Food: Lobster

Sunbirds
Sunbirds are found in Sunlit Plateau. They flutter around the area quickly, but there’s not anything special required to approach them as long as you can manage to keep up with ’em.

Foxes
Foxes are found in Frosted Heights. They’re sociable creatures when they’re hungry, so they’ll run up to you and bark for you to follow them. Chase them around wherever they take you long enough and they’ll eventually let you give them some grub.

Favorite Food: White Sturgeon

Ravens
Ravens are found in the Forgotten Lands. These corvids can be spotted pretty easily flying about and minding their own business, and getting their attention isn’t too hard. Approach them slowly, then wait for them to fly around in a circle examining you for a brief time before finally settling down and letting you feed them a five-star meal.

Favorite Food: Any five-star meal

In Disney Dreamlight Valley, the farm-life sim stretches beyond its surface-level comparisons to Animal Crossing thanks, in large part, to Realms. This is a feature that allows you to travel outside your titular community to spend time in the worlds of popular Disney and Pixar characters. Completing their missions will earn you new cosmetic and currency rewards while also–and perhaps most importantly–allowing new characters to move into your community. Here’s everything we know about Realms so far, including a list of all announced Realms and how many more we can expect.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Realms
Realms are the story missions of Disney Dreamlight Valley, and each one takes you to a different Disney or Pixar world where, at the end, a character from the world will move into your neighborhood. At launch, Gameloft has announced four Realms, though the team has also suggested many more are on the way in free updates.

The four currently announced Realms are:

Frozen
Expect this list to grow considerably over the next year and beyond. In-game, the castle in which you travel to Realms suggests a total of 28 Realms may one day be in the game, as many unlabeled doors sit around the foyer near the four that bring you to the Realms mentioned above. It’s likely that these Realms will pull from many of the same (if not exactly the same) brands seen elsewhere in the game.

For example, clothing and furniture representing series such as The Little Mermaid, Cars, and Toy Story are all in the game already, but not yet confirmed as Realm destinations. We fully expect that to change over the next year in early access–and beyond.
