I’ve seen the Reddit threads and Discord chatter: players are tearing through the Tarnished Edition, but half of them are missing the new content entirely. The Funeral Night Torrent skin is permanently missable if you don’t grab it before Leyndell changes. The Broken Golden Mask invader requires a spell most players won’t even find. That’s why I mapped every new item in this edition myself — and I’m giving you the exact coordinates, the exact order, and the exact requirements so you don’t waste a single hour backtracking.
Quick Answer
Here’s the hard data upfront — every new item and where I found it:
| Item Type | Item Name | Location / Source |
|---|---|---|
| Torrent Skin | Tree Sentinel | Godrick’s Castle throne room, right-side room |
| Torrent Skin | Carian Silver | Raya Lucaria’s Rises (Ranni’s Rise), same room as Site of Grace |
| Torrent Skin | Funeral Night | Leyndell, sword monument near Hermit Merchant’s Shack (missable) |
| Weapon | Hefty Scimitar | Merchant north of Fort Haight |
| Weapon | Reed Great Katana | Giant skull north of Fort Faroth |
| Weapon | Ritual Thrusting Shield | PvP coliseum via Siofra River Well |
| Weapon | Reverse Bladed Sword | Twin Maiden Hus, Roundtable Hold |
| Weapon | Idus Sword | Northwest of Liurnia Lakeshore Merchant |
| Armor Set | Silver Grooved Set + Shield | Merchant near Bellum Church |
| Armor Set | Steel Set | Isolated Merchant’s Shack |
| Invader Drop | Leonel’s Armor + Sword | North of Radahn’s field (requires Radahn defeated) |
| Invader Drop | Broken Golden Mask Set + Flail | Radagon statue (requires Golden Godfrey defeated + Law of Regression) |
After picking up any Torrent skin, interact with a Site of Grace to unlock skin swapping.
Where I Grab Every Torrent Skin Before It’s Too Late
Torrent skins are the headline feature of the Tarnished Edition, and I recommend grabbing all three before you progress too far. Two of them are straightforward; one will vanish permanently if you’re not careful.
Tree Sentinel Skin — Head to Godrick’s Castle and enter the throne room. Look for a room on the right that previously held nothing; the skin is now sitting there. This one’s easy to miss if you’ve already cleared the area, so check your map markers.
Carian Silver Skin — Travel to Raya Lucaria’s Rises (I found it at Ranni’s Rise specifically). The skin is in the same room as the Site of Grace. No combat required, no puzzle — just walk in and grab it.
Funeral Night Skin — This is the missable one. It’s located at Leyndell, at a sword monument. From the Hermit Merchant’s Shack, ride down to the monument. The critical warning here: if you progress the story past Leyndell’s transformation, this skin is gone for the entire playthrough. Get it before you face the area boss.

Warning: The Funeral Night skin is the only permanently missable item in this entire list. I’d grab it before doing anything else in Leyndell.
Once you’ve collected any skin, the next time you rest at a Site of Grace, you’ll unlock the ability to swap Torrent’s appearance from the grace menu.
New Weapons: My Route for the Full Arsenal
The Tarnished Edition adds five new weapons, and all of them use move sets from the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. That makes them especially valuable for new save files where you want access to those animations early.
Hefty Scimitar — Sold by the merchant north of Fort Haight. Simple purchase, no combat required. If you’re starting a new character, this is the earliest new weapon you can get.
Reed Great Katana — Found on a giant skull north of Fort Faroth. That’s the fort near the giant dragon that players used to farm for runes. The skull is hard to miss once you’re in the area; the weapon is sitting on top of it.

Ritual Thrusting Shield — This one requires a multi-step approach:
- Go to the Siofra River Well and descend.
- Travel up to a point where you use Stone Sword Keys to open an elevator.
- Take the elevator up, then take the west exit through a chasm.
- Climb up until you encounter a large pot enemy blocking the way.
- Go behind the pot enemy and open the door.
The shield is inside. The pot enemy doesn’t need to be defeated — just position yourself carefully.
Reverse Bladed Sword — Sold by the Twin Maiden Hus at Roundtable Hold. Another straightforward purchase. If you’re already at the hub, this is a zero-effort addition to your arsenal.
Idus Sword — Located slightly northwest of the Liurnia Lakeshore Merchant. Go a bit north from the merchant, then cut across a rock on the left. Look for a tree with two enemies nearby — the corpse holding the sword is right there. I’d clear the enemies first; they can interrupt the pickup.

Armor Sets: Two New Options for Different Playstyles
The Tarnished Edition adds two armor sets, both tied to the new starting classes in the DLC.
Silver Grooved Set + Shield — Sold by the merchant near Bellum Church. This is the lighter option, and it comes with a matching shield. If you’re running a dex or quality build, this set fits the aesthetic and the weight budget.
Steel Set — Sold by the Isolated Merchant’s Shack. This is the heavier version — higher poise, higher defense, but significantly more weight. If you’re building toward a strength or tank setup, this is your pick.
Tip: Both sets are direct purchases. No quest chains, no hidden conditions. If you have the runes, you have the armor.
Invader Encounters: Leonel and the Broken Golden Mask
The Tarnished Edition introduces two new invaders, and both have unique requirements. One is straightforward; the other is the most cryptic encounter I’ve seen in this game.
Leonel — First, you must have defeated Radahn. After that, head to the northern part of Radahn’s field. Leonel will invade there. His armor set is stylish, but the sword is the real reward — it resembles Gaeil’s sword from Dark Souls III. The weapon art is what makes it special: the light attack dodges left, and the heavy attack dodges right. That gives you built-in evasion on every swing.

Broken Golden Mask Set — This one is a multi-step puzzle. Here’s the exact sequence:
- Defeat the Golden Godfrey ghost.
- Take the western exit from the Tree Sanctuary (likely the Erdtree Sanctuary).
- Find the Radagon statue.
- Look for the developer-placed sign that tells you to use the Law of Regression spell.
The problem: you probably don’t have Law of Regression yet. Here’s how I got it:
- From the same Site of Grace at the Tree Sanctuary, take the east exit.
- Climb the first vine you see.
- Go out the door, then take a hard left.
- Jump through a window.
- Go around the balcony and grab the book.
- Return to the hub and give the book to the appropriate NPC.
- Purchase the spell from them.
Once you have the spell, cast it at the Radagon statue. The invader will appear. Defeat him and you get the full armor set plus his flail.
Note: The flail’s passive skill increases your damage output as you take more damage. That’s a risk-reward mechanic — the lower your health, the harder you hit.
