This guide walks you through the exact location and method to mine Ancient Bone in Palworld 1.0, from the required tools to the fastest travel route. If you have been struggling to find this critical crafting material for the endgame accessory set, the answer is a single biome in the northeast corner of the map. Here is how to get there, what to mine, and how to avoid wasting a single trip.
Obtain Ancient Bone in Palworld 1.0
Ancient Bone is a material mined from specific fossil-like rock formations found only at the Wildlife Sanctuary in the far northeast of the map. It is not a common drop from Pals, nor is it found in standard ore deposits. Every piece of Ancient Bone you need for the seven accessory schematics in version 1.0 comes from one location. Understanding this upfront saves hours of aimless searching across the other biomes.
Steps to Get Ancient Bone
Start from the Deep Sand Dunes fast travel point at coordinates 527, 526. This is the closest teleporter to the Wildlife Sanctuary. From the teleporter, head northeast directly toward the sanctuary island. You will cross a short stretch of water, so ensure your Pal can swim or that you have a flying mount.

Once on the sanctuary island, equip a mining tool. A standard pickaxe works, but the Plasma Multicutter is faster. Walk the shoreline and interior of the sanctuary looking for large, porous-looking rocks that resemble a spine with a rib cage. These are the Ancient Bone nodes. They are distinct from the regular stone deposits and the smaller fossil rocks that drop Bone.
Approach a spine-and-rib cage formation and mine it. Each node yields multiple pieces of Ancient Bone. The formations are scattered around the sanctuary, so after clearing one, continue exploring the island to find the next. A single loop of the sanctuary typically yields enough for one accessory recipe.

Tips & Troubleshooting
Before you leave the base, equip a Pal with the Rainbow passive skill or carry Holy Water. Without one of these, every node vanishes on contact and the entire trip is wasted. Only bring that specific Pal out near the nodes; an unrelated Pal wandering close can still scare the resources off.
Carry weight is the second biggest trap. Each piece of Ancient Bone weighs 8 units. A full set of seven accessories requires 240 units, which weighs 1,920. You cannot haul that in one trip. Bring a Lunaris or Kingpapa in your party to double your effective carry capacity, and place a storage chest at a World Tree fast-travel point for intermediate deposits.
Do not sell Ancient Bone. 1,200 Gold per unit looks tempting, but you need 240 units and there is no way to buy them back. The real bottleneck is Gold itself — the full accessory set costs 2,850,000 Gold. Farm Gold in parallel using our dedicated guide.
Skip crafting the Air Walker Mk III. Saving directly for the Air Walker EX saves 30 Ancient Bone and 300,000 Gold. If you are short on carry weight, prioritize the Phantom Ring last — it costs 600,000 Gold and 30 Bone, but its utility is lower than the Emblems and Charms.
Build the Recycler as soon as you reach Tech 74. Passive material income from recycled items beats manual hunting over any real time horizon. Craft the Gas Mask before entering the radiation biome near the sanctuary; the radiation will eat your health bar before any node does.
Every Ancient Bone Recipe and Exact Costs
All seven accessories require schematics dropped from Ancient Ruins, dungeon chests, and oil rigs. Farm those alongside the material itself. Here is the complete list with exact quantities:
| Accessory | Ancient Bone | Other Materials | Gold |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dogen Emblem | 30 | Refined Ingot 20, Bone 30, Paldium Fragment 35 | 400,000 |
| Silvegis Emblem | 30 | Refined Ingot 20, Chromite 10, Paldium Fragment 35 | 400,000 |
| Wandering Merchant Charm | 30 | Polymer 30, Leather 30, Flame Organ 20, Ice Organ 20 | 400,000 |
| Vanguard Charm | 30 | Polymer 30, Bone 30, Flame Organ 20, Ice Organ 20 | 400,000 |
| Air Walker Mk III | 30 | Coralum Ingot 20, Paldium Fragment 50, Dark Fragment 35, Nightstar Sand 50 | 300,000 |
| Air Walker EX | 60 | Coralum Ingot 30, Paldium Fragment 60, Dark Fragment 45, Nightstar Sand 60 | 350,000 |
| Phantom Ring | 30 | Refined Ingot 30, Plasteel 10, Pal Metal Ingot 15 | 600,000 |
Every recipe takes exactly 30 Ancient Bone except Air Walker EX, which doubles it to 60. The Gold costs are the real gate — 400,000 for each Emblem and Charm, and a brutal 600,000 for the Phantom Ring. Since accessories in 1.0 are crafted from schematics rather than found as items, farm your schematics from Ancient Ruins, dungeon chests, and oil rigs alongside the material itself. Our Ancient Ruins guide covers the fastest schematic source.
What It Costs to Craft Everything
If you want the full set, here is the total bill — worth knowing before you start hauling:
| Total | Amount |
|---|---|
| Ancient Bone for all 7 accessories | 240 units |
| Carry weight of 240 Ancient Bone | 1,920 (8 each) |
| Gold for all 7 crafts | 2,850,000 |
| Schematics needed | 7 (one per accessory) |
| Skipping Air Walker Mk III | Saves 30 Bone and 300,000 Gold |
| Most expensive single craft | Phantom Ring (600,000 Gold) |
That 1,920 carry weight is the number most players underestimate — you physically cannot haul a full set’s worth in one trip, so plan several runs and a storage chest at a World Tree fast-travel point. The 2,850,000 Gold is the harder wall: at 1,200 Gold each, selling Ancient Bone is never worth it, so build your Gold income separately. Our Gold farming guide covers the fastest methods to fund these crafts.
