Phasmophobia: Full Ghost Guide

I wanted to make a guide containing every single piece of information I know!
Hope this is useful and good luck with Ghost hunting!

 

1. Spirit
Evidence:

Bio:
Spirits are very common ghosts. They are very powerful, but passive, only attacking when they need to. They defend their place of death to the utmost degree, killing anyone that is caught overstaying their welcome.

Weakness:
A Spirit can be temporarily stopped by burning Smudge Sticks near them.

Tips:
-The journal says that the Spirit is the most common ghost, but this is incorrect. All ghost types have the exact same chance of being selected.
-Using Smudge Sticks stops a Spirit from hunting for 180 seconds instead of the usual 90 seconds.

2. Wraith
Evidence:

Bio:
Wraiths are one of the most dangerous ghosts you will find. It is also the only known ghost that has the ability of flight and has sometimes been known to travel through walls.

Strength:
Wraiths almost never touch the ground, meaning it can’t be tracked by footsteps.

Weakness:
Wraiths have a toxic reaction to Salt.

Tips:
-A Wraith never leaves footprints after stepping in Salt.
-Wraiths don’t avoid Salt piles and can walk through them.
-Wraiths footstep noises are always audible like most ghosts.
-A Wraith can start random Ghost Interactions anywhere on the map near a player that will give off EMF 2 or EMF 5. They CAN’T teleport during hunts.

3. Phantom

Bio:
A Phantom is a ghost that can possess the living, inducing fear into those around it. They are most commonly summoned from Ouija Boards.

Strength:
Looking at a Phantom will drop your sanity considerably faster.

Weakness:
Taking a photo of the Phantom will make it temporarily disappear.

Tips:
-If you take a picture of the Phantom it will disappear immediately but the picture will still count as a ghost picture.
-When you can see the Phantom your sanity will drop considerably more then normal.
-A Phantom flickers slower during a hunt.
-A Phantom has a chance to roam to a random player on the map. But unlike the Wraith it walks instead of teleporting.

4. Poltergeist

Bio:
One of the most famous ghosts, the Poltergeist. Known to manipulate objects around it to spread fear into its victims.

Strength:
Poltergeists can throw multiple objects at once.

Weakness:
With nothing to throw, Poltergeists become powerless.

Tips:
-A Poltergeist can throw multiple objects at the same time so putting multiple items close to each other near the ghost room could help identify him.
-If they throw multiple items at once it can also give off 10 activity in the van.
-There is a chance that a Poltergeist can throw an item with a higher velocity just like the Oni.
-Every time a Poltergeist throws an item everyone will lose 2% sanity.

5. Banshee

Bio:
The singing siren, known for attracting its victims through song. It has been know to single out its prey before making a killing blow.

Strength:
A Banshee will only target one person at a time.

Weakness:
Banshees fear the Crucifix and will be less aggressive near one.

Tips:
-A Banshee will focus one person INSIDE of the house during a hunt and cannot switch targets in the middle of the hunt.
-If the target is known they can hide somewhere and all the other players will be safe.
-If the target is not in the house he will become a normal ghost.
-A Banshee can sing/scream into a parabolic mic. Other ghosts can make this sound during a hunt but only the Banshee can screm into the parabolic mic.
-The only sanity that counts is the sanity of the target, so the average sanity doesn’t matter.
-Banshees will also wander towards the target more to perform ghost events.

6. Jinn
Evidence:
EMF Level 5

Freezing Temperatures

Bio:
A Jinn is a territorial ghost that will attack when threatened. It has also been known to travel at significant speed.

Strength:
A Jinn will travel at a faster speed if its victim is far away.

Weakness:
Turning off the location’s power source will prevent the Jinn from using its ability.

Tips:
-A Jinn cannot turn of the Breaker UNLESS it turns on enough lights to break the breaker.
-As stated in the Strengt the Jinn will move faster if it’s victim is far away and will only start slowing down if they are really close to the player.
-If you are close to a Jinn it has a chance to drop your sanity by 25% instantly. Turning off the breaker will also disable this ability.

7. Mare
Evidence:

Bio:
A Mare is the source of all nightmares, making it most powerful in the dark.

Strength:
Turning the lights on around the Mare will lower its chance to attack.

Weakness:
Turning the lights on around the Mare will lower its chance to attack.

Tips:
-A Mare cannot turn on a light.
-A Mare cannot hunt if the lights are ON and the average sanity is above 40%.
-A Mare can hunt if the lights are OFF and the average sanity is below 60%.
-The Mare has a chance to immediately turn of the light when turning it on, you can abuse this by flickering the lights slowly and if it gets turned of multiple times you are probably dealing with a Mare.
-A Mare can roam more if all the lights around it are on.

8. Revenant

Bio:
A Revenant is a violent ghost that will attack indiscriminately. Their speed can be deceiving, as they are slow while dormant: however, as soon as they hunt they can move incredibly fast.

Strength:
A Revenant will travel at a significantly faster speed when hunting their prey.

Weakness:
Hiding from the Revenant will cause it to move very slowly.

Tips:
-If everyone is hiding the footsteps from a Revenant are farther apart then usual since he is slower.
-If a Revenant finds you he is VERY fast making it easy to identify if you manage to stay alive somehow.

9. Shade

Bio:
A Shade is known to be very shy. There is evidence to suggest that a Shade will stop all paranormal activity if there are multiple people nearby.

Strength:
Shades are much harder to find.

Weakness:
The ghost will not enter a hunt if there are multiple people nearby.

Tips:
-A Shade can only hunt below an average sanity of 35%.
-There is a less chance of the Shade performing Ghost interactions and Hunts when there is at least 1 person in or near the Ghost Room.
-The less sanity you have the higher the probability is of the Shade performing a ghost event.

10. Demon

Bio:
Demons are the most aggressive ghosts we’ve ever encountered. Known to attack without reason, they seem to enjoy the thrill of the hunt.

Strength:
Demons will initiate hunts more often than other ghosts.

Weakness:
Demons will drain less of your sanity when you use a Cursed Possession.

Tips:
-A Demon can hunt when the average sanity is below 70% it also has a rare chance to hunt at any time regardless of the sanity level.
-The cooldown between hunts is also lowered to 20 seconds instead of the usual 25.
-When using Cursed Possessions the sanity will drain 20% less.
-The Crucifix range is increased by 66,7% for a Demon. (from 3 to 5)

11. Yurei
Evidence:

Bio:
A Yurei is a ghost that has returned to the physical world, usually for the purpose of revenge or hatred.

Strength:
Yurei’s have been known to have a stronger effect on people sanity.

Weakness:
Smudging the Yurei’s place of death will trap it temporarily, reducing how much it wanders.

Tips:
-Every second you spend looking at a Yurei during a ghost event it will drop 0.4% of your sanity.
-It can randomly drain 12.5% sanity withing 7.5 meters and that event will also close a random door so check your sanity!
-Smudge Sticks will stop the Yurei from wandering for 90 seconds, it can obviously also not hunt during this time.

12. Oni
Evidence:
EMF Level 5
Freezing Temperatures
D.O.T.S Projector

Bio:
Oni’s love to scare their victims as much as possible before attacking. They are often seen in their physical form, guarding their place of death.

Strength:
Oni’s are more active when people are nearby, and have been seen moving objects at great speed.

Weakness:
Oni’s are very active, making them easier to find.

Tips:
-The Oni is most likely to show his physical form instead of a shadow.
-Oni’s throw items higher and/or with more force.
-Oni’s can never do the smoke ghost event. (the one where smoke comes towards you and hushes)

13. Yokai
Evidence:
Spirit Box
Ghost Orb
D.O.T.S Projector

Bio:
Yokai are common ghosts that are attracted to human voices. They can usually be found haunting family homes.

Strength:
Talking near a Yokai will anger it, increasing the chance of an attack.

Weakness:
When hunting, a Yokai can only hear voices close to it.

Tips:
-If you are extremely close to the Yokai and talk they can start a hunt under 80% sanity.

14. Hantu
Evidence:

Ghost Orb
Freezing Temperatures

Bio:
A Hantu is a rare ghost that thrives in the coldest climates. The cold seems to make them more aggressive and empowered.

Strength:
Lower temperatures allow the Hantu to move at faster speeds.

Weakness:
Hantus move slower in warmer areas.

Tips:
-Even on Nightmare a Hantu will ALWAYS have Freezing Temperatures.
-A Hantu doesn’t speed up if he is chasing you, meaning you can loop it.
-Keeping on the breaker will make the Hantu way slower making it easier to get a getaway.
-Hantu has double the chance of turning off the power.
-a Hantu will have a freezing breath if the temperature is below 3°C

15. Goryo
Evidence:
EMF Level 5
Fingerprints
D.O.T.S Projector

Bio:
When a Goryo passes through a D.O.T.S projector, using a video camera is the only way to see it.

Strength:
A Goryo will usually only show itself on camera if there are no people nearby.

Weakness:
They are rarely seen far from their place of death.

Tips:
-A Goryo won’t show D.O.T.S while there is a player in the room, you can step just outside of the room and look into the ghost room with a camera to look for D.O.T.S.
-Goryo will always have D.O.T.S even on Nightmare.
-Goryo’s barely roam around the map. They can still Roam but they don’t leave far from the area around their current ghost room.

16. Myling
Evidence:
EMF Level 5
Fingerprints
Ghost Writing

Bio:
A Myling is a very vocal and active ghost. They are rumoured to be quiet when hunting their prey.

Strength:
A Myling is known to be quieter when hunting.

Weakness:
Mylings more frequently make paranormal sounds.

Tips:
-Only the Footsteps from a Myling are audible when they are in range. If you hear the Footsteps on the same floor after your flashlight starts blinking you could be dealing with a Myling BUT a Raiju effects the range of certain electronics, luckily they only have EMF Level 5 in common.

17. Onryo
Evidence:
Spirit Box
Ghost Orb
Freezing Temperatures

Bio:
The Onryo is often referred to as “The Wrathful Spirit”. It steals souls from dying victims’ bodies to seek revenge. This ghost has been known to fear any form of fire, and will do anything to be far from it.

Strength:
Extinquishing a flame can cause an Onryo to attack.

Weakness:
When threatened, this ghost will be less likely to hunt.

Tips:
-If the Onryo blows out a Candle it has a chance to starts a hunt. Multiple candles will prevent this early hunt.
-Having multiple candles will work as a Crucifix as long as the candles are on. It will first blow out the candles before using the Crucifix’.
-An Onryo can hunt below 60% sanity.

18. The Twins
Evidence:
EMF Level 5
Spirit Box
Freezing Temperatures

Bio:
These ghosts have been reported to mimic each other’s actions. They alternate their attacks to confuse their prey.

Strength:
Either Twin can be angered and initiate an attack on their prey.

Weakness:
The Twins will often interact with the environment at the same time.

Tips:
-The ‘Fake’ Twin can not give any evidence except for EMF Level 5.
-The Hunt can be started in 2 locations.
-The Decoy Twin has a lower chance to hunt but is also 10% faster then a normal ghost but the Real Twin is 10% slower.
-Both Twin interactions are at the same time, on a bigger map you could place sound sensors on each side of the map and if they spike together you know you are dealing with the Twins.

19. Raiju
Evidence:
EMF Level 5
Ghost Orb
D.O.T.S Projector

Bio:
A Raiju is a demon that thrives on electrical current. While generally calm they can become agitated when overwhelmed with power.

Strength:
A Raiju can siphon power from nearby electrical devices, making it move faster.

Weakness:
Raiju are constantly disrupting electronic equipment when attacking, making it easier to track.

Tips:
-When there is electronics around the Raiju can start hunting at 65%.
-Having nearby electronics will increase the speed of the Raiju by a lot! It is almost as fast as a Revenant but unlike the Revenant it will be fast constantly even when everyone is hiding.
-The range that the ghost effects electrical equipment and flashes/disrupts it is increased with the Raiju.

20. Obake
Evidence:
EMF Level 5
Fingerprints
Ghost Orb

Bio:
Obake are terrifying shape-shifters, capable of taking on many forms. They have been seen talking on humanoid shapes to attract their prey.

Strength:
When interacting with the environment an Obake will rarely leave a trace.

Weakness:
Sometimes this ghost will shapeshift, leaving behind unique evidence.

Tips:
-There is a chance that the Obake won’t leave Fingerprints.
-Obake will ALWAYS have Fingerprints.
-Sometimes an Obake will give Fingerprints with 6 fingers.
-An Obake sometimes tries to remove Fingerprints faster

21. The Mimic
Evidence:
Spirit Box
Fingerprints
Freezing Temperatures
(Ghost Orb)

Bio:
The Mimic is an elusive, mysterious copycat ghost that mirrors traits and behaviours from other ghost types.

Strength:
We’re unsure what this ghost is capable of. Be careful.

Weakness:
Several reports have noted ghost orb sightings near mimics.

Tips:
-The Mimic can imitate every ghost in the game.
-The Mimic can have 4 Evidence pieces on normal modes and 3 on Nightmare making it sometimes easy to find.
